Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for filling up of 3 (three) posts of Senior Personal Assistant (Stenographer Grade-II) in the Principal Seat of the Gauhati High Court in the usual scale of (PB-2) in the Scale of Rs. 22000-97000/- with Grade Pay of Rs. 9400/- plus other allowances as admissible under the rules. The number of vacancy is indicative only and may vary at the time of final selection on either side.

Name of the Post: Senior Personal Assistant (Stenographer Grade-II)

Pay Scale: (PB-2) in the Scale of Rs. 22000-97000/- with Grade Pay of Rs. 9400/- plus other allowances as admissible under the rules.

Age: Upper Age Limit

Eligibility:

1) A candidate must possess a Bachelors degree from a recognized University with a diploma in Stenography in English with minimum speed of 100 wpm in shorthand and 40 wpm on a computer. Due weightage shall be given to a law graduate.
2) A candidate must possess a valid Registration Number of Employment Exchange for the State of Assam.

Selection Process:

Stage 1 – Stenography Test (Dictation and Transcription) of 90 marks

• Voice testing before dictation – 2 minutes
• Speed test in shorthand at a speed of 100 words per minute (total 700 words) – 7 minutes
• Time to be given to the candidates for testing the computer – 3 minutes
• Time for transcription of the dictated portion in computer – 20 minutes

Stage 2 – Written Examination (Descriptive Type) for 100 marks of 2 hours duration on answer scripts testing the English Proficiency (80 marks) on the touchstone of Composition, Essay, Grammar as well as knowledge of Assamese language (20 marks). The Written examination will be of qualifying nature and marks obtained therein will not be considered while preparing the final select list.

Stage 3 – Viva voce/Interview of 30 marks. Candidates in the ratio of 1:3 (3 candidates for 1 post) will be called to appear in the interview.

Minimum qualifying marks in various stages are as follows.

1. In stage 1, in order to qualify in the Stenography Skill Test, a candidate shall have to secure at least 50% marks i.e. 45 out of 90 marks Skill Test for appearing in Stage 2.
2. In stage 2, a candidate shall have to secure at least 40% marks in the English language segment i.e. minimum 32 out of 80 marks in order to be considered qualified for appearing in Stage 3. Further, in the Assamese language segment, candidates securing atleast 40% marks in the Assamese language segment i.e. 8 out of 20 shall be treated as qualified.
3. In stage 3, a candidate shall have to secure atleast 60% marks in the interview i.e. 18 out of 30 in order to be considered qualified in the interview/viva-voce.

Application Process :

(a) Log on through the website www.ghconline.gov.in and click on 1: ‘Online Application for filling up of posts of Senior Personal Assistant (Stenographer Grade-II) in the Principal Seat of the Gauhati High Court”.
(b) Click on “New Registration”. Provide the required information in that page, and then click “Submit Registration”. The system will generate a Registration Code which will be displayed below the “Submit Registration” button. Though the system is designed to send e-mail immediately acknowledging the Registration Code and corresponding Date of Birth, sometimes due to network congestion, the e-mail may not be delivered. Hence, candidates are requested to note down the Registration Code carefully.
