    India Post GDS Vacancy 2026

    The recruitment is being conducted for vacant Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts in different offices of the Department of Posts. The vacancies include posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak.

    India Post GDS Posts

    The recruitment is for the following categories of Gramin Dak Sevak:

    1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)

    The BPM is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the Branch Post Office. The duties may include postal operations, mail conveyance and delivery, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) services, marketing and promotion of postal products and other duties assigned by senior officers.

    A candidate selected as BPM must arrange accommodation for the Branch Post Office at his/her own cost and is required to reside in the post village where the Branch Office is functioning.

    2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

    The duties of an ABPM include sale of stamps and stationery, conveyance and delivery of mail, IPPB transactions and assisting the BPM in postal operations.

    ABPMs may also be required to perform BPM duties when directed or when the BPM is unavailable. ABPMs are required to reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned Branch Office.

    3. Dak Sevak

    Dak Sevaks may work in Post Offices, Sorting Offices, Mail Offices, Transit Mail Offices, Delivery Centres and other offices of the Department of Posts.

    Their duties may include handling and delivery of mail and parcels, sale of stamps and stationery, IPPB transactions, handling mail bags and assisting in the smooth functioning of Post Offices.

    India Post GDS Salary 2026

    GDS employees are paid Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) along with applicable allowances.

    The basic TRCA slabs mentioned in the notification are:

    • BPM: ₹12,000 to ₹29,380
    • ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470

    Age Limit

    Age Relaxation

    Age relaxation is available for eligible reserved categories:

    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • EWS: No relaxation
