Guwahati Refinery Oil Corporation Limited Apprentice 2025
Indian Oil Corporation Limited has released a notification for engagement of Apprentices for the year 2025–26 at its Guwahati Refinery under the Refineries Division. This program is conducted under the provisions of the Apprentices Act and is part of the corporation’s skill-development initiative. The engagement is strictly for apprenticeship training and does not carry any assurance or claim of future employment.

The apprenticeship training provides structured exposure to refinery operations, technical maintenance, and administrative support functions in a live industrial environment.

Vacancy Details – Trade & Technician Apprentices

A total of 82 apprenticeship seats (tentative) have been notified across various trade and technician disciplines at the Guwahati Refinery. The distribution is subject to change based on organizational requirements and applicable reservation norms.

Trade Apprentice – Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant)
This discipline has 17 vacancies. The training period is 12 months. Seats are distributed among UR, EWS, SC, ST, and OBC (NCL) categories.

Trade Apprentice – Fitter (Mechanical Discipline)
There are 4 vacancies for this trade with a training duration of 12 months.

Trade Apprentice – Boiler (Mechanical Discipline)
A total of 8 vacancies are available for Boiler apprentices. The apprenticeship training period for this trade is 24 months.

Technician Apprentice – Chemical Discipline
This category has 20 vacancies with 12 months of apprenticeship training.

Technician Apprentice – Mechanical Discipline
A total of 11 vacancies are available under this discipline, with a training duration of 12 months.

Technician Apprentice – Electrical Discipline
There are 11 vacancies notified for Electrical Technician Apprentices, and the training will be for 12 months.

Technician Apprentice – Instrumentation Discipline
This discipline carries 4 vacancies with a training period of 12 months.

Trade Apprentice – Secretarial Assistant
There are 2 vacancies for this trade with 15 months of apprenticeship training.

Trade Apprentice – Accountant
A single vacancy (1 seat) is available under this category with 12 months of training.

Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Fresher)
This category has 3 vacancies, with apprenticeship training lasting 12 months.

Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate Holder)
There is 1 vacancy available under this trade, with 12 months of training.

Reservations for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are applicable as per Government of India guidelines.

Educational Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have completed the prescribed qualification on or before 30 November 2025. Applicants whose results are awaited are not eligible.

For chemical operation–related trades, candidates must possess a three-year B.Sc. degree in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry.
For technician apprentices in engineering disciplines, candidates must have a three-year Diploma in the relevant branch such as Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized institute.
For fitter apprentices, candidates must have Matriculation along with ITI in Fitter Trade of minimum two-year duration.
Secretarial Assistant applicants must have completed Graduation (BA/BSc/BCom).
Accountant apprentices must possess a B.Com degree.
Data Entry Operator apprentices must have passed Class XII, with or without a valid skill certificate depending on the category applied for.

All qualifications must be obtained through regular full-time mode. Qualifications acquired through distance, part-time, or correspondence mode are not accepted.

Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA, or those pursuing higher studies, are not eligible for this apprenticeship.

Age Limit

As on 30 November 2025, candidates must be minimum 18 years old. The maximum age limit is 24 years for candidates belonging to General and EWS categories. Age relaxations for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are applicable as per government rules. Proof of age must be supported only by the Class X certificate.

Selection Method

There is no written examination. Selection will be carried out based on merit, calculated from the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualification applicable to the trade or discipline applied for. Candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time will be given preference.

In case of a tie in marks, older candidates will be placed higher in the merit list. If the date of birth is also the same, higher marks in Matriculation will be considered.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and must clear a pre-engagement medical fitness examination.

Stipend and Training Conditions

Selected apprentices will be paid a monthly stipend as prescribed under the Apprentices Act. No accommodation or HRA will be provided. Safety gear such as helmets and safety shoes will be issued where applicable. Apprentices will be covered under accident insurance and governed by refinery safety and discipline rules.

Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment with Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
