Oil India Limited (OIL) Geologist Recruitment 2025

Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking intends to engage following personnel purely on contractual basis for immediate engagement at Field Headquarters, Duliajan. The contractual requirement which is purely temporary in nature shall also entail working in shifts involving arduous and hazardous nature of jobs in remote/far-flung OIL installations/locations and also on “On-Call” duty basis. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply on the date of registration.

Contractual Engagement Requirement: Geologist on Contract (24 Nos.)

✅ Eligibility Criteria:
(i) Post graduation in Geology or Applied Geology of minimum 02 (two) years duration from a Govt. recognized University/ Institute.
(ii) Must have minimum 01 (One) year experience in Exploration and Production (E&P) Sector specially in Drilling Operation activities in NE region.

🛑 Age Limit (years) as on the date of registration for Walk-in-Interview:
Minimum age: 24 years
Upper age limit: 40 years as on date of registration for Walk-in-Interview.

💰 Contract Emoluments: ₹ 70,000/- per month*

*The total Contract Emoluments consists of Fixed and Variable components.
*Incidental of ₹ 500/- per day for the actual number of days worked for OIL outside the place of posting.

(ii) Contract Period: Contractual engagement will be for a period of 06 (Six) months, extendable by another 06 (Six) months subject to a maximum period of 01 (One) year. The said contract period will be extendable depending upon requirement of the company, performance of the individual, conduct, fitness etc.
(iii) Age Limit: As on the date of registration for Walk-in-Interview.

📅 Details of Walk-in-Interview:
Interested candidates meeting the above eligibility criteria should report for registration for the Walk-in- Interview process at the following venue as per the schedule given below:

📍 Venue: OIL Human Resources Office, 5th Floor, Oil India Limited, Duliajan, Assam.

📄 Candidates must bring the following document(s)/certificate(s)/testimonial(s) in originals while reporting for the Walk-in-Interview process:
a) Filled in Personal Bio-Data Form (format given on the last 2 pages of this advertisement).
b) 01 (One) recent 3cm X 3cm coloured photograph.
c) Valid Identity Proof and valid Address Proof from Competent Government Authority.
d) Date of Birth (DOB) proof i.e., Birth Certificate or Class X certificate containing DOB.
e) Admit Card, Marksheet and Pass Certificate of Class 10 issued by the concerned Government Recognised Education Board; Document(s)/Certificate(s)/Testimonial(s) of essential qualification(s) and Experience Certificate(s).
f) Valid Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC), if applicable; Valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate, if applicable; Valid Income and Asset Certificate to be produced by Economically Weaker Sections, if applicable; Valid Disability Certificate, if applicable; Valid Discharge Book/Service and Release Certificate for Ex-Servicemen (Pages containing Personal Particulars and Service Particulars), if applicable.
g) No-Objection Certificate from concerned employer, in original, in case the applicant is working in any organization.
h) A set of self-attested photocopies of all applicable document(s)/certificate(s)/testimonial(s) as mentioned above.

• Candidate(s) without original document(s)/certificate(s)/testimonial(s) will not be allowed to appear in the Walk-in-Interview.

• Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will only be allowed to appear in the Walk-in-Interview.

✅ Selection Criteria:
a) The candidate will be selected based on Walk-in-Interview of total 100 marks.
b) The minimum qualifying marks will be 50 for all categories.
c) The breakup of 100 marks will be on, Professional Knowledge and skills (in concerned discipline), Professional Knowledge and skills (in allied discipline), Personal Attributes and Soft Skills.
d) Final selection from among the candidates who have appeared and secured the minimum qualifying marks of 50 in the Walk-in-Interview will be only on the basis of merit as per the marks obtained in the Walk-in-Interview.

🧾 Experience, Job Profile, Duty Responsibilities/Accountabilities, Skill and knowledge:
I. Job Profile of Geologist on Contract:
a) Office and field Duty especially in OIL installation of NE India.
b) Wellsite stays on as and when required.
c) Other allied jobs assigned by concerned reporting officer/HoD.
d) The incumbent may have to work in shifts involving arduous and hazardous nature of jobs in remote/far-flung OIL installations in the production and exploration areas and on “On-Call” duty basis.

II. Duty/Responsibilities/Accountabilities of Geologist on Contract:
a) The contractual geologist will be assigned responsibilities related to operations at wellsites, including both drilling and workover locations. However, as required by the company’s needs, he/she may also be deployed for operational related desk jobs within the office.

III. Skill and Knowledge of Geologist on Contract:
The contractual geologist should possess a comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas operations conducted within an Exploration and Production (E&P) company. Additionally, they must demonstrate the necessary expertise to effectively perform tasks from a geological perspective, particularly in relation to drilling activities such as:
a) Basic knowledge and understanding of the petroleum system and petroliferous basin (Assam-Arakan) of North-East India.
b) Elementary knowledge of Open-hole and Cased hole logs with quick-look interpretation.
c) Preparation of depth contour map and its interpretation.
d) Preparation of Geological correlations and cross-sections
e) Sedimentological study and analysis of drill cutting samples under microscope.
f) Experience in preparation of vertical litholog of wells/master log.
g) Elementary experience in handling deviation data of well.
h) Elementary Knowledge regarding Mud logging unit operations and monitoring.
i) Experience in MS-Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).
j) Elementary experience in working with Corel software.
k) Familiar with user interface of Petrel software.
